Beneteau Oceanis 40. Experiences??

Considering purchase of this boat in the title. Looking for first hand experiences and comparisons to other similar size production boats in terms of sailing characteristics.

We saw one when we picked up our 343. Hated hated the cabin sole...looked like the laminate in a cheap rental condo.

Hi ... have a 2011 Beneteau 40 (Oceanis). In mast furling, single aft cabin, one head. Great cruising boat. She is a bit tender but with in mast furling it's easy to keep things under control. Wonderfully bright cabin .. the woodwork may be less magnificent than in years gone by or in more expensive boats but it's just fine. I won't go into more details as you might well have bought a boat by now ... but let me know if you would like more detailed comments. JohnB40

Thanks JohnB40. Please elaborate on the "tender comment" and anything else you could. The one I'm looking at now is a 2008-2009 model ex mooring boat. Very little use and hr compared to their usual. Some cosmetic issues but nothing really major.

That OP was 3.5 months ago. I seem to have bumped your rub rail in asking...not my intent. I too am looking at Bene's, among others, and thought you may have purchased since Jan or, bought one and found hidden issues I can learn from or, bought and want to sell or, you are still looking for info over a quarter of a year later...which may tell me this is not the forum to invest daily time in to gather Bene info.

If you had said so in the first couple of lines, I would had been more than happy answering your questions. This forum, like many others, have a huge population of members with too much time and not enough reading comprehension. Nearly every thread gets off on a tangent within 5-8 replies, so over time it is very hard not to get very annoyed by abundant non-contributory posts. I wasn't trying to be nasty to you in particular, although reading back my reply I can see how I came off that way.
I doubt you'll find a lot of newer beneteau reviews here. Or any other modern production boat for that matter. Few people here, at least for what I personally have gathered, have anything newer than 15 years old!
