Beneteau First 345 prop choice
 

Hi All,

I am repowering my 345 from its original 3GMD 20 HP to new 3YM30, 29hp. I'd appreciate advice on which prop will suit - I am looking for a fixed 3 blade given that we seem to motor against windy and tide a large proportion of the time.

Anybody running a similar configuration ?

If you're committed to a fixed prop, look into the Campbell Sailor 3 blade prop.

I bought a Campbell Sailor recently and like it so far. Before installing it I used some image analysis to compare the blade area to the Michigan Sailor 2 blade that I pulled off of my boat. The 14x8" CS 3-blade actually had less blade area than the 16x10" 2-blade that it replaced. It seems to work just as well and runs a little more smoothly.

I'm not sure why you are motoring a sailboat when it is windy though?
