Advice needed: Fast approx 25' boat that sleeps 4

My family had a C&C 25 for 20 years and I am looking for the same or something similar. The keel weighed as much as the boat, and it is still raced extensively here. Since prices seem lower right now in the US, can someone suggest another model?
I will probably buy a mid 70s boat from $4-7K. Hey got to be careful in a recession!

Thx for the help.

Can you clarify "fast" and "sleeps 4"?

For fast, do you mean all out racing machine? Or just fast for a cruiser?

For sleeps 4, do you mean 4 adult males? 2 couples? A couple and 2 kids? What size are the kids?

I guess fast for a cruiser is the best description. Sleeping arrangements are not as important but they are 2 plus two kids. Any ideas?

Given your criteria, I would consider the following. They are listed from 'fastest' to 'slowest' based on their default Bay Area PHRF rating (lower is faster). Note that some of these are bigger than you specified, but still in your price/age range.

Catalina Capri 25 - 168
J-25 - 168
Beneteau 235 - 174
Morgan 27 - 174
Newport 27 - 192
Cal 27 - 192
Oday 27 - 198
Catalina 27 - 198
C&C 27 - 198
Buccaneer 250 - 210
Cal 25 - 216

I'd add the Olson 25 to that list.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
