Challenger 40 Staysail Ketch Sailboat for Sale

Photobucket

I guess I should have mentioned this a week ago-- Kalliope is listed this week on eBay, Item # 170381005002, starting at $70,000. Auction ends tonight (9/18, Friday) around 7:45! We've had lots of questions and the auction has over a hundred watchers, but no one has been able to come see her. Much more info listed on eBay, or on the site named below. We don't want to have her sitting at the dock all winter, so if you're interested, get in touch with us, and come see her! Thanks.

Kalliope is a 1974 Challenger 40 staysail ketch-- Robert Perry designed, Howard Stern constructed. She is well-maintained, up-to-date and ready to go cruising immediately. Kalliope has circumnavigated the world as well as cruised the Eastern US coast and Bahamas. She is easy to singlehand, as all control lines (headsail, staysail, mainsail, mizzen) are cockpit rigged. A watertight bulkhead isolates the forward sail/anchor chain locker; makes a safer boat, keeps sails out of the living area and also houses the holding tank. All systems on Kalliope are well thought-out and nicely integrated. Kalliope is a bright, open boat, a comfortable place to be whether at anchor, at sea, or at the dock, as well as an exceptional, safe blue-water cruiser; she is fun to live in, as well as to sail. ***Knowledgeable Sailnet readers please note that the only two known Challenger 40 foibles have been addressed: New stainless steel mast steps were installed in South Africa, and we just redesigned the Master Berth. We bought Kalliope to have a boat to live on and sail for the winter, as a break from working on our other sailboat. We have made extensive improvements on her, and now need to sell her, in order to free up time and capitol to finish our work on boat #1! For more info, go to Challenger 40 Ketch Kalliope - Home or email us at treefroglets@gmail.com . Thanks for looking!
