Kirie Feeling 486: Impressions

I am considering an upgrade to a larger boat (currently a Sovereign 28 which I finished from a bare hull 19 years ago). Currently docked in front of it is a 1996 Feeling 486, which is for sale. Made by the Kirie yard in France, btw. Its been on the market for a while, and the price has dropped, so they may be open to offers. When I googled 'Feeling 486' I didn't find much. There are some for sale, but I couldn't find any of the technical/evaluative information that I need. I have a thing about hull-deck joints and glassed in bulkheads that I can't see without tearing things apart. The Feeling 486 seems to be charter-genre, a bit better than Beneteau, but that's all. I'd really appreciate any comments about its offshore/cruising ability and construction quality.

Thanks PierreMundo. Actually, I know the equipment list and basic dimensions form looking at other boats for sale. I've got the BoatUS retail values etc. I've even managed to find a survey report for a later model, but what I want is things like thickness of hull, type of materials (I'm pretty sure the 486 is a sandwish), details on internal structure, bonding of hull-deck, nature of keel attachment etc. In other words, could a Feeling 486 go offshore? Will it stand up to a hard grounding?
The boat I am looking at is packed with equipment, and has very nice woodwork, so it looks very 'good,' but I'm assuming there's a reason why its cheap, besides being French and a certain rarity in the US.

We have two wombats on here!?!?!?! oh lordy! Please help us! One from NA, the other from down under! oh lordy please help us!

Anyway, Saw a Kieri here in the Seattle area where I am. Thought it was a mid 80s Jeanneau initially until I asked over on the Jeanneau forum what boat it was, only to find out it was not a jeanneau! I got the impression is was reasonably run of the mill to slightly above ave. On par with a Waiquiez or a bit below. Not as low price point as bendy's, but above a Jeanneau.

As such, you would think a 48' boat would weather off shore useage no matter the brand, other than say a Morris M52 or equal style daysailer/weekender.

Check into a bit more if you can, I am thinking the company went out of business. but do not quote me on that. More than likely deck gear is Goiot, also a french company, but with a decent reputation on the other side of the pond.

Re: Kirie Feeling 486: Impressions

Hello Wallywombat, I'd seen your remark is a littleolder but anyway.I was wondering If you did purchased the Feeling 486, or did you manage to get more additional info about the boat as you requested. I encounter the same problems finding good intel on the net. So I hope you can help me further. I am looking for a 1999 Feeling 486.
Offcourse anyone who can provide me with additional info are more then welcome.
Best regards
