And just to emphasis, let me add that Farrier went away because he did not agree with alterations made to his designs that in his opinion were not right and put in jeopardy the quality of the boats.
It is also true that was 10 years ago, and I would like to have more opinions about Corsairs today. I have heard good things about them, related with the boats that sail in Europe and I have not heard nothing specifically against.
Dan, do you have more concrete information about that lack of quality and I don't mean the interiors, but structurally?

So, if one is looking for a quick, trailerable, somewhat comfortable cruiser our choices are the telstar or a 31 corsair? And the mast raising system on the Corsairs are not very good.
Any other choices out there in the under 100k arena?
Anyone know anyone selling a Telstar 28?
Thanks all

Paulo—
Not specifically, since I've not looked at them since I was looking at boats back in 2004-2006. But, based on what some of my Corsair owning friends tell me, they aren't too happy about some of the changes.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Not at the moment. The last three that were for sail that I knew of have all sold. Think there's one in AZ that is for sail currently, but not 100% sure.
BTW, the Corsair 31's won't be under $100,000 used, unless they're in pretty rotten shape as a general rule. New, they sell for about $160,000 or so. One major reason I didn't buy one was the value they represent.
Another choice might be the Contour 30, but they haven't been made in a while. The SeaCart 30 is still in production, but primarily a racing design. The Dragonfly 28 is also available, but really, really pricey.

I loved cruising my F31, over 6,000 miles in the Keys and Bahamas. I once did the Big Game Club in Bimini to Cocount Grove Sailing Club, about 52 miles, beer to beer, in 4 hrs 30 mins with 2 reefs in the main!
There were many light air days when I was the only boat sailing on Biscayne Bay, a 1000 sq ft asymetric spinnaker on a 3,800 lb boat can works wonders in 5 knots of wind!
Similar arguments can be used to decide to by a Chevy rather than a Porsche, it a matter of horses for courses.
Phil
ps the 30 ton boat with 3 zone air and a washing machine we now cruise was my wife´s decision.

corsair 31 1D
Does anybody know about these? are they still making them or did they just make a few in 2004? Or is it just like the 31 R? They look pretty cool, but they are pretty expensive used.

IIRC, the 31 1D was supposed to be a one-design racing version of the Corsair 31. It was an aft-cockpit design that had an larger cockpit than the standard 31, and was re-badged the Corsair 31 RS IIRC.
If you're planning on cruising the boat, you're probably not going to be too happy with the boat, since it has a lot less stowage and interior space because of the longer cockpit.
