Surveyors in New England, 3-part Question

Hello! I have three questions that I hope you can help me wrt surveyors :

1) I have a name of a surveyor that was recommended to me in the Boston/New England area. Am going to walk the docks tomorrow for more names. Also got a helpful tip to ask the insurance for recommendations. Opening up to y'all, do you do you have any recommendations?

2) Gene Barnes is the surveyor that was recommended to us (by a liveaboard, and a broker - I know, I know. I won't use one suggested by a broker unless he's been vetted by other people, which is why I'm posting). Anyone used him before, any feedback?

3) After I get a number of reputable surveyors in my hands, what next? What questions should I ask when I call? How should I evaluate them other than by a nice voice? (I have no experience here, only home purchase and I didn't interview home inspectors. I just used the one my buyer's agent recommended...)

Here are some initial questions I thought I'd ask: how many years experience doing boat surveys, any certifications, geographic region, how much a survey will cost, what we should expect as the deliverable, when should we expect the deliverable...Anything else?

You advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Try this guy
Welcome

Ask him how expensive the boats are they he surveys ($1MM+ is good), whether his clients pay him to travel the world to look at their boats, and what he will charge to survey yours. If he wants twice as much as the other hacks you speak with, he is the guy to hire.

Thank you. I think the surveyor is the most important person in the boat-buying process and want to get this right.

Marine Surveyors in New England

Bill Coble from Rhode Island is a profeesional in every aspect He surveyed my Bristol 35 three years ago. Bill is the son of Paul Coble who designed the Bristol 24 in the mid 1960s.

Bill will do a thorough survey that you can depend on.

I've used Capt. Norm LeBlanc on all our surveys -- good guy, very thorough and fair in his pricing.
