Wanted Cruising Sailboat - Australia

Hi List,

Suzi and I are ready to buy a yacht for extended liveaboard cruising on the east coast of Australia, and later asia pacific region.

wish list:

38' +- a few feet
fibreglass with integrated keel and ballast.
headroom 6'2" at least in main cabin and head compartment.
400l plus water
300 plus litres fuel.
ketch or sloop doesn't matter

we have budgeted $90K with a further 10 - 20K for first year expenses and additions to the yacht.

we are cash buyers and ready to go now and can settle quickly (days).

Am happy to travel anywhere in Aus and local region.

thank you

Nick and Suzi

Would suggest that you will either have to re-think your requirements for a 38ft plus boat, or your budget, especially first year expenses / additions. In Oz a 38ft+ yacht for A$90k is probably going to require a 25-50% budget for additions / upgrades. Running costs for the first year expenses will probably be $15-20k. You also need to factor in the time / cost of work / upgrades; very few yachts on the market for your length / budget would be capable of an extended passage unless a fair amount of work was carried out.

Good luck, Ilenart

Maybe something for you

Hi,

I am selling my beloved alloy 42 feet centerboarder in Australia. It seems to me it fits your needs : 350 L fuel, 700 L water, headroom OK.

However, as said in a previous post, you have to expand your budget even if it is very affordable for an alloy boat : 122000 AU$. But alloy has also many advantages over fiber...

if the moderator allow to let a web site link in this post for me, you will find more details on the boat and how to contact me here :
Via 42 for sale !

otherwise, contact me at michel.tissot (at) free.fr

cheers
Michel

Alloy Yacht

Thanks for your response but we are not looking for an alloy yacht or a centreboarder.

perhaps you can help through. I see you have spent time in New Cal. Did you happen across a light blue Person 365 there named Zaya?

thanks

Nikko
