big ol draft

Hey all-
Who thinks a 5'5" draft is too much for eastern Florida/ bahama cruising? Will this just cause headaches or is it doable?
Looking to purchase my first boat, 1985 hunter 28.5 on Merrit Island.
Your thoughts?

5'5" -- no worries in FL, except in a couple of places on the AICW.
