Don't know about his papers but Jan De Groot has a good rep - been around a looong time.

Philip Oldham is a very good surveyor. He knows his stuff is accredited. Only downfall is he's normally very busy.

I was very happy with Tim McGivney, who surveyed my Merlin last year

I don't know Mr. Oldham or his qualifications but he is not an AMS listed with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors. Check the roster of the Society for a surveyor anywhere in the world at The Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, Inc.® - (SAMS®)

Thanks to all for the advice.

Looks like I may be buying boat in Vancouver and sailing it back to Seattle.
Does anyone have any insite/information that they could share about the process - necessary paperwork, best port of entry, best route, etc?
Any advice to make the process painless would be appreciated.
Boat is 32 feet, aprox $40,000 and purchasing through a broker.

Andrew

Andrew.. I did this last year. It was easy. Happy to help. Where was the boat manufactured? (That matters)
