I actually knew a woman who was shipping boats back from the far reaches of the Pacific to Los Angeles and making a nice profit. She would find sailors that had made it there from the West Coast and whose dreams/plan/marriage had disintegrated. They just wanted the boat gone, so she bought at fire sale prices. This was when the boat market was much better, of course.

You know, with the economy as it is, if a person could afford to sit on a little money AND had the property to store something say as big as a sailboat...or 20, he might actually turn a profit in 5-6 years.....or, he might lose everything to rot. Either way, it would be a lot of fun, right?

They put all the weight in the keel for reason... Oh, you were talking about buying and reselling. Now that is funny. I have some carbon credits I'll sell cheap and you can flip those too.

It's just like making a small fortune racing cars - start with a big fortune.

It should be titled "How to get poor having anything at all to do with sailboats."

A perfect place for a stolen or phony credit card number, so you can buy the course and pay what it absolutely MUST be worth.

I only had one good flipping experience and it wasn't a sailboat.

I was moving out of an apartment. I carried a box of trash to the dumpster and found that some had put an almost brand new grill next to the dumpster. Being frugal, I tossed my box in the dumpster and walked back to my truck carrying my new grill. I was standing there looking at the load in the truck and had just decided that I would take it with the next load. Just then, some people pulled up who were moving into the apartment complex. The lady asks me, "Say, you wouldn't be willing to sell that grill would you? I'll give you $20 for it." I said sure and pocketed a quick $20.
