Hey,
Both boats look nice.
What do you plan on doing with the boat? How many people will be on it? If you are planning on cruising, spending a few days or longer on the boat, and you have more than 2 people, the Catalina would be a better choice. It's significantly bigger than the C&C. If you want to race, or value performance more than comforts, or will be just daysailing, spending weekends aboard, and / or have 1 or 2 people on board, the C&C would be a better choice.
Of course, without more information there is no way of knowing if one boat is junk or not.
The 11 HP engine is marginal for the Catalina. It will be fine for getting you in / out of the harbor, but too small to motor into a seaway. The A4 has a lot of detractors, but many people love them too. What about other features, like pressure hot and cold water? AC / DC electrical systems, sail inventory, electronics?
Good luck,
Barry
