Buying a Boat With a Murder History

I'm looking a sailboat that had a murder onboard. Any opinion as to how that will affect the future value of the boat? Do you think it would be anything like a house?

I would think that there is serious impact to the initial post-187 seller, but I think by the time it is one unassociated owner into the future, there is no impact, especially if one changes the name. It is not like a house where everyone knows the address.

However all best are off if you keep telling people someone got offed onboard, or if you preserve the chalk outline on the teak and holly sole.

Better a murder in its past than a murder in its future.

You could always use the "haunted ghost ship" stories to your advantage....

Faster is right - if it was someone famous it could ADD value - who was it?

Was the boat owned by one of the "Can't sail with my husband/wife" posters?

Who all knows about this? Is the investagation done-or are we waiting for discovery? How good is the price and how tightly are you wrapped? Boats make a lot of strange noises by themselves, But with an active imagination, and a history who knows! ---Dale

You'd be the talk of the club with a ghost as crew.

Are you kidding me? Why don't you just begin a voyage on a Friday while you're at it.

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.
