Celestial 42 CC

Is there anyone here that has had any experience with a Celestial 42.I find very little info about it. Made in China by some Aussies and Chineese carpenters but not much else. There's one for sale in ca. but don't know if it's worth the trip to look at (900 miles one way)

Can't help you with the Celestial 42 but I own an 86 Celestial 48 built in the same yard. I added some links for you - 1 you may have on the 42 and another on the 48. I also provided a source that provided info for me when I purchased my 48. Cindy was very helpful and may have something for you on the 42.

When we were looking for the next boat we came across the Celestial 48 and was immediately impressed with the build and layout. We took a trial sail and was very happy with it's performance. If the 42 is built similar to the 48 and sails as well I'm sure it will be a good find. All sizes seems to be rare and other owners speak highly of the boat, but it seems the resale value is low since there's very little info on the boats.

From what I have seen of seen of the model it may be worth the trip but arrange to see other boat to compare. If it the one in, I believe San Diego on Yachtworld, it's been listed for a while and I suggest getting fresh photo's. I suspect if you go for it you may get a deal.

Happy hunting, best of luck and enjoy.

Re: Celestial 40 CC

Mike, are you still interested in the San Diego Celestial? I just looked at it and it is a piece of sh#t. Has been neglected badly so the outsides need lots of work. The keel step is basically gone. All brightwork is badly damaged. You get the idea. Save yourself a trip. Too bad, cause it shows well in the pictures.

I'm just sayin'.

Cheers, Bill

Re: Celestial 40 CC

Thank you for the heads up Bill, I had called and talked to a sales rep. and from what I gathered from him I was suspecting either lightening damage or heavy electrolysis along with neglect .I don't mind doing some repair, but this boat is too far gone to make any sensible person attempt restoration, basically I believe it is a candidate for the scrap yard.
