Catalina 36MKII versus C380

I am ready to purchase my new boat and have narrowed the search down to these two models.
2000-2004 36MKII or a 1999-2003 C380.
The years aren't etched in stone, but pretty close.
I live in San Diego, CA, and my cruising would be limited to the Channel Islands, with hopefully many journeys to Catalina Island.
I am primarily a singlehander.
A year ago i had my mind set on the 36, until i viewed the 38. The large aft berth with more storage, and separate head/shower arrangement is what draws me to this boat.
As i stated earlier most of my time on this boat will be alone, but the extra room is definitely appealing.

I appreciate any and all constructive advice to help me with this decision.

I have sailed both in SF bay. I am partial to the 38 because of her design. She's going to be a more stable vessel in heavier seas. Not to mention in a race i would put my money on the 38, designed for the transpac.
