Which to buy

I am currently looking at two boats, a Columbia 26 MKII and a Coronado 27. Both are priced pretty much the same, all things considered which would you choose. Thanks for your input.

For the same money, roughly equivalent boats on the 'quality' scale, it would come down to specific equipment included, newer vs older sails, motor status and, most important of all, which one 'speaks' to you.

As long as neither has any serious issues, go with your gut, get it surveyed and go from there.

Good luck.

We started on a Columbia 26 four years ago as a boat to learn on. Was a great little boat. Too small for what we intended, and we knew that at the time, but we wanted something cheap that we could write off if we ran her into a dock.

Was a great little boat. We paid $1300 for her and sold her for $1200 a year later.

they are the same boat. well almost, they were designed by the same designer at the same timeand build in the same plant. I beleve it was the same hull mold. it does come down to equipment, extras and the condition of the whole package. are the both O/B powered or I/B. is the columbia the full cabin or the forward flush deck model. some of the coronados are centerboard models. I always liked the 26 with the flush foredeck. in it's day it was the one to have.
here's a comparison you may find helpful Columbia 26 Mk II - Coronado 27 Comparison
