Is this a WestSail 32 ?

Hi can someone help me ID this boat. I thought it was a westsail32 but I just realised it doesn't have a bowsprit and the keel curve looks quite different. Its a fiberglass hull (I can see the mat through a hole).

These photos were taken with a very wide angle lens so there is some distortion. She's fat but but not quite as fat as she looks here.

That fisheye lens doesn't do that old girl any favours, does it??

Not a W 32.. no bowsprit, very different hull form. But I'm sorry to say I don't recognize it.. it will be tough with such distorted views..

That is definitely not a Westsail 32. With the distortion it is hard to tell what that is. My best guess is that it is a Prairie 32 but there were several larger boats with similar sterns.

I think you got it! I had never heard of a Prairie.

Thank you.

p.s. sorry for my crappy photo's, it was the only lens I had at the time.

I wonder if that boat is still for sale?
Do you remember the marina name and location?

Re: Is this a WestSail 32 ?

Jeff is correct. That nearly vertical "wraparound" stern is the giveaway.

The Maestro said "The Prairie 32 was one of the strangest designs I have ever had to review". And he has reviewed some VERY strange designs.

If it's been full of water for a long time, best leave it alone, no matter how cheap.

Re: Is this a WestSail 32 ?

Here is one that has been listed for a few years, bet they would take a lot less than asking price.

1978 Prairie Yachts Cutter sailboat sailboat for sale in New York

The reputation is that they are heavy built but not very comfortable and very poor performance, but I don't think anyone buying one would expect to bring any silver home with one of these.
