Looking for Design Suggestions for my next boat

Have been living aboard for 7-8 years on my much modified Pearson Vanguard and am looking for more room. I live and work aboard year round in New England and while the Vanguard is doable, it's short on space.I want to cruise in 3-5 years.

My criteria:
Price range 35K or less

Coastal now but sturdy enough for extended offshore passages in 3 years

Adequate tankage

Prop in aperture (I sail Maine a lot and pot lines are everywhere.

Storage

I like older designs but willing to forgo the Rhodes/Alberg CCA ERA for demonstrably more comfort, liveability and sailing performance. Recently looked at a Bristol 35.5 but the engine access was ridiculous. Looking at a Gulfstar 37 this week.
Boats I like include the Alberg 37, Tayanas of course (but not in my price range), Westsails (but the slow reputation gives me lots of hesitation).
I can handle projects as I do all my own work, but I don't want a basket case.
I'd like to expand my horizons a bit and look at designs different than just the older CCA era boats outlined-all suggestions welcome and appreciated.

Extended offshore, under 35k and not a basket case.

Pick two of the three, and maybe you can find something.

If you are willing to look at gulfstar's, check out a Irwin 37 Center Cockpit.

Lessons learned are opportunities earned.

One man's basket case is another's reasonable project. There are lots of deals out there if you are prepared to put in some work.

I should add that I would expect to put another 15-30K into the next boat beyond the purchase price. My plan is to leave in 3-5 years, upgrading and refitting as time and budget allow

You have to define your version of basket case a bit better as if you can live on the new boat while doing projects its gonna be in pretty good shape no ?

Re: Looking for Design Suggestions for my next boat

You'd be surprised. I gutted and renovated my current boat while living aboard. I'd rather not do it that way again. I did just find an Alberg 37 reputedly fully found and cruise ready with newer sails, full canvas dodger, bimini, enclosure sound diesel etc. Decks done, core fixed..interior cushions ago and plain jane finish below for $35K...in Grenada. A bit outside my shopping area, but it just goes to show it is possible. I know what some of the moderators feel about the older designs, but that particular design has just about gone everywhere. Perhaps not as quickly or comfortably, but for the money there are some great values to be had. My purpose in posting was to maybe learn about some designs I'd not thought of.
