2008 Beneteau Oceanis 31 vs. 2007 Dufour 325 Grand Large

Greetings fellow sailors.

Long time no talk. I've moved from Chicago to London and I am now looking for a boat.

I've sold 'Miller Time' - my 2003 Beneteau 36.7, and am eager to get back on the water here in the UK . Not as picky about speed these days, rather looking for a nice comfortable 31 - 34 foot boat for weekends on the Solent.

Two 'lead' boats in my consideration set are a 2008 Beneteau Oceanis 31, or a 2007 Dufour 325 Grand Large. Both are in great shape with similar features.

Any feedback - good, bad, other? on these boats? How do they stack up for quality? how about resale?

Anything else woth considering in this range.

Many Thanks!

Chuck Buck

What happened to the Hanse you were looking at?

Being as you are in Europe, Your options are unlimited as to what makes are available vs here int he states. Salona, Delphia, Jeanneau, Bavaria to name a few that are hard to find 30-34' boats here, are a dime a dozen on that side of the pond. Plus probably MANY MANY other options that one never hears about over here.

Hey Marty - poor survey drove the deal apart on the Hanse 342 - ended up going with a Beneteau 31 - so far I'm a very happy skipper!

Chuck,

Sounds cool, wish I lived over there to get the boat options they have vs here. MANY more choices of brands etc. We're still in the dark ages in North America for boat offerings.
