Re: Boat Title? need help

The variations in state regulations is problematic. As I recall, the Coast Guard states that a documented boat may not have a title. A state registration is OK. Try and explain that one to some clerk.

If it is currently registered in Fl then you will not have a problem with the paperwork. Just get a very detailed Bill Of Sale, and copy of the current registration and you can easily register it in either state. See which state has cheaper fees and do it there

No, you don't get to just choose whichever state has cheaper fees. If you keep the boat in Florida for more than 90 days then the law requires you to register it with the state. Not sure about Georgia, but most states have some sort of similar rules. You need to register it in the state where you keep it. Where you live is pretty much irrelevant to most states, but there may be exceptions.

Re: Boat Title? need help

Nice. Congrats on the purchase. In Georgia it is the same, if the boat is kept in the state it must be registered here.

Will you be keeping her on the coast?
