Does this boat look right?

Good evening from Australia!
My friend is looking into a trailer-sailer, this is the one:
tinyurl . com / qfafpbz

I am concerned that this hull has been drastically modified...I wasn't aware of them having a huge drain in the cockpit, a daggerboard or the stern section being open like this...

I thought they only came with pivoting centerboards or a small fixed keel.

Other than these small issues it looks to me like a good deal for a beginner and it seems to have a good wardrobe of sails! My friend is going to go and have a look and I will be coming along...but I thought I would ask of any opinions on here first...
Thanks
Alex

It actually does. This is Alex first post, and he has to mod it somewhat, so it doesn't look like a link due to the SN rules.

using it, one lands at

19ft O'day yacht fibreglass shell | Sail Boats | Gumtree Australia Lake Macquarie Area - Toronto | 1027293374

which works great.

YIKES! I wouldn't consider the boat with a hole in the transom. Who knows how much the structure of the hull has been compromised. The trailer might be worth $200 and the sails if in great shape another couple hundred. The boat? Artificial reef material.

That is not an O'Day original. Someone has modified that boat.

A lot of boats are designed that way. I'm not familiar with that model but it may have been factory. My Hunter 170 had a completely open transom and it performed very well.

Re: Does this boat look right?

Um, yeah open transom is all the rage, but methinks it wasn't in this boat's original design plan.

Now OPs question (does this boat look) right can be answered: No, not from the perspective of how it was intended to look. Far from it.

Re: Does this boat look right?

I find it hard to imagine:

A) That the boat was manufactured this way

and

B) What the owner was thinking when they did this
