HELP - Bayliner (US Yacht) Buccaneer 180

There's a local opportunity to purchase a Buccaneer 180. Not sure of the year, and I didn't write down the hull number. I'm a former Paceship 17 owner, and I was looking for another and ran across this boat instead. The current owner is asking $800, but I think he'll take less.

Two questions: Is this boat a dog/money pit? I can't seem to find any objective information on it. The area just forward of the daggerboard has been poorly repaired and a small crack is still visible. There seems to be moisture coming through from water sitting in the boat. Right now it's up on the trailer, which is in need of some serious rust control and repainting.

Is this a worthy investment, even if I can get him down to $500? How can a 3-inch crack (hairline) be repaired and will it be costly?

Thanks so much for any assistance.
