transport, shipping a sailboat

Anyone have experience transporting a 47 to 55ft. sailboat from the east coast to the west coast, or visa versa? What were the cost, issues and can a company be recommended?

I used a Moger Yacht Transport phone 310.515.6859 to transport from San Francisco to LA & price worked out to $2.50 mile +/- & was a "special" price. Price was higher than I''d had quoted some years ago but apparently due to fuel costs now. They are very professional, helpful & did what they said they''d do. Truck was very nice which I think reflected the boat care exerted. As I understand it, if they can get a load for the other direction, you''ll have a big savings... mine reflected that. Height w/ keel & beam & weight - you need when calling. Preparing the boat is a yard matter & needs to be done professionally... except don''t let them to send the boat keys w/ the truck, mine forgot! Hope that helps.

Try Marblehead Marine Trucking, Marblehead Ma. They are affiliated with Marblehead Trading, a good boatyard. They are very reliable and competent. 781.639.0029
