Dinghy Registration in NC

Can anyone tell me the procedure to register a recently purchased used dinghy in North Carolina? It is currently registered in R.I.

Thanks
Ian

Having did one that was from FL and now is in VA it should be similar.

You''ll need the title from RI. Generally when you switch states you need to clear the old one first. Then you''ll send that with payment to NC. It should have a hull number some place and that together with the old RIn registration should be enough.

Mine was mis-registered in FL and so was a PITA to clear the title. It took some fancy paper work to clear that up.

You follow the procedures as with all power boats in the state of NC. Being a dinghy does not mean anything different. It''s still a boat with a motor as far as NC is concerend. It is in no way associated with your primary boat.

The NC Wildlife Resource Commission has a good website ( https://www.ncwildlife.org/pg01_License/pg1c.htm) to help you through the process.
