Anybody have any experience / reviews about the newer ones (circa 1994) built by Catalina. I''ve found lots of (negative) information on the older ones but nothing on the new. How much did catalina change the design and construction when they took over from Morgan.

What kind of negative info did you find? I have an ''86 M43CC the predecessor to the M45CC. We''ve only had it for one season but so far we really like it. We also have a friend who is cruising the Carib in a ''87 M43CC and so far they really like it. Seriously, I''d like to know, especially if the problems are systemic.

As far as Catalina''s changes to the Morgan, call Catalina and ask for their Warren or Toni in the Morgan division. They can give you a brief history and they might be able to give you a history on the particular hull you''re looking at.

One last note, Cruising World just gave the Morgan Boat of the Year for Production Cruisers 40-45'' or something like that.

I''m trying to find a link where I found a couple of reviews but no luck yet but there was mention of problems with flexing on the mast step and complaints about sloppy installation of plumbing electrical etc. Never seen one so can''t comment.

Catalina intoduced a 44 footer in 2004 that is formally called the Catalina Morgan 440. It did get BOTY honors from Cruising World.
