Produstion custom boats

There are several production boats I really like but I have want to find one I can make some major modifications to. Then again I like the production prices.. Any ideas?

How much are you willing to pay?

What is the use you are going to give to your boat?

Ok Ok, here comes all the people here that hate Catalina. I am one that likes them but catalina won''t put in too much in the way of custom work. I want a comfortable cruser with two real staterooms. ONE head, a forward sitting chart table and ten times more storage than in the average cruser. Something in the 40 foot area less than $200K. For me thats ALOT thats why I am so drawn to Catalina. I just want a 40 Cat that I can customize..

You know the problem, the production yards save money by standardizing as much as possible and strongly resist changes. Smaller yards will make changes but you don''t get the production efficiencies and the boat costs more. Look for a stock boat as close as possible to what you want, such as a Dufour 40. They make a 2 cabin one head layout with forward facing chart table. Price was around $200K but with the dollar tanking v. the euro might be heading up.

Lot''s of space, big tanks and many interior options.
You can love the style or hate it but ir''s a different boat, a fast one also, for a cruiser.
It''s a Rob Humphreys design and he is known to make fast and seaworthy boats.

I have read several tests of that (new) boat and all say well.

Costs around 180 000 euros (in
Europe) and it looks a lot of boat for the money.
