Mast Mounted VHF

Isn''t that name cute? I thought of it all by myself here in Columbus, GA.

But soon I''ll be sailing down in the Gulf and I want to install a VHF radio with a mast mounted antenna before I get there, novice that I am. How do I run the coax on a trailer sailor like my boat? What kind of coupling would I use at the base of the mast?

I ran it down by leaning the top of the mast against the garage then going up on the roof and feeding it down from there. I used a bulkhead connector on the deck next to the base of the mast. Worked fine.

How are you protecting the coax from the sharp edge of the hole at the bottom of the mast?

I installed a rubber grommet in the holes at the top and bottom of the mast.
