Hull / Deck Joint on Pearson 303

I was reading a Practical Sailor review on the Pearson 303. With regard to the hull/deck joint, they are of the opinion that it is fastened with self-tapping screws. They also feel this type of construction is, "perfectly satisfactory", for coastal cruising.
I am of the opinion this was a short cut by the builder and a boat of this size should have been through bolted.
Does anyone know for sure if this joint is constructed with self-tapping screws or through bolted. If it is self-tapped, should this be a concern?

Its held together with screws for assembly purposes and drawing the deck to the hull mechanically .... then the internal portions of the joint is filled and overlayed with fiberglass roving and resin. Dont ever break one its a bitch to repair.
