best place to advertise

I am trying to sell my 40 passport. the price is good at 128k, the boat is 100 percent ready, but its not getting the exposure. No one seems to realize its for sale! A few tire kickers have looked and my broker brought buyers around for comps.
Where have other sellers found success in promoting their boats? Its also in Ft Lauderdale Florida, some say that is good, others bad. whats up with this?
It would be good to hear what people- both buyers and sellers- think because I am at a loss!

Suggest that you join a Passport email discussion group such as here on sailnet. You might also want to join other similar Robert Perry design email groups and specific brand ''owners groups'' on the internet such as Tayana, Baba, Tashiba, Hans Christian (a Perry rip-off design), etc. as many of these ''boards'' will contain ''prospective'' owners .... who are ''lurking'' and interested in buying such boats. Most of these boats are probably sold through specific ''owners groups''.

Be very careful of email classified lists... as it is possible for ''swindlers'' and con-artists to be attracted, etc.

A well founded and well maintained Passport 40 shouldnt last long on the market if well positioned and marketed well. These are extremely desireable boats for offshore cruisers !!!!! location location location. You might also want to consider to use a Passport dealership as your broker.

There is a Passport 40 that has been relisted on Ebay, asking 112K or so. It looks like a beautiful boat. so far no bidders. Maybe it''s the time of year.

Paul, I think the above suggestion about networking is right on target. Rather than one single killer method of advertising, networking more is better than less. I would add some of the BBs that would naturally have an interest in a cruising boat, e.g.
