Looking to buy older, lower priced 34-40 foot sailboat

Hi! I''m looking to buy an older, lower priced 34-40 foot sailboat... and I don''t have more than a few thousand dollars. I''m looking at some older (1970) Columbia and others. What are some of the better choices that can be found out there in an under-$5000, 34+ foot fixer-upper? If anyone has anything to offer please do. In addition to cash I may offer some business/intellectual property assets, motor vehicles (nice car in Europe, van in USA), etc. I''m a serious buyer - looking to fix something up and sail around the world soon. wiser_investments@yahoo.com

I feel you will be out of luck. In my search for a low price, 30+ foot sailboat, I found that once you pass that 30 foot mark, the prices really jump, or should I say leap! Also note that I said "low price", not low cost. Plan on pumping quite a bit of cash into the boat after the purchase if you buy her at a bargain basement price. Trust me, I haven''t been there, I am there!

You could put that money towards the downpayment of a good quality liferaft which I`m sure you will need.

I have looked in the used 34 to 40 foot market. I have recently purchased a Pearson 35, I happen to like the Pearson as I owned one before. I looked at some real bad boats in the lower end price range ie. under $15000.00. Don''t plan on getting much for your money under $23,000.00 to $30,000.00. That''s for something you will sail this summer.
