I have a cal29. I''m not too familiar with the CalT-2. What is the length? If less than 30'' and is 34 yr old, it isn''t worth much. It sounds like you''ve put a lot of time and money into her and I don''t think you''ll get it back. Mine is fully tricked out for racing AND cruising (you can''t believe the crap I have to haul off to go racing), all lines led aft for shorthanded racing, yada, yada, etc... I think I would be lucky to get $8000 - $10,000. Hope you can do better. Neil

What is it worth?

These old Lapworth designs sail very nicely and were well constructed, I''d happily own one. I think they speak well to the performance sailor stuck with a modest budget. But the price point for older designs like this is low, even for solid examples of the period that have been kept upgraded.

An unknown from your description is the quality of the work you describe. Was the hull sprayed with awlgrip or hand brushed by a handyman? Who did the wiring and are any of the sails recent, or do they all deserve replacement?

IMHO, this boat with some recent sails and professional work ought to be worth $10-14,000. Still needing upgrades such as sails, and with handyman work, start backing off expectations. Even with these upgrades, if the hull is brushed, the sails are all original, and the boat looks tired, it may not be worth much more than the value of the engine.

Getting back good money "invested" in an older boat is hopeless, discount whatever you''ve put into by 50% and start from there. Its the buyer of said boat who can make out like a bandit.

Good luck.
