sailingfool will become famous soon enough
Also www.certifiedsales.com and they show up on E-bay on a regular basis. The ones on E-bay seem to be priced as if they were useable boats versus bins of spare parts that happen to be connected.

Editorial: if you're looking some parts, go at it. If you want a boat to enjoy, caveat emptor unless you've done a few restorations. Most of these damaged boats end up going for the value of the salvaged parts, less the cost of removing, storing and selling those parts, which is to say for very little, which is what they are worth. Unless the seller is lucky enough to have a dewy-eyed buyer come by who thinks that how can you go wrong by paying $20,000 for a $200,000 boat? The answer is that one can easily spend $20-40,000 more before realizing the boat is still worth nothing...

good luck.

there must be quite a few places that deal in used parts. i would assume there's quite a few available after the spate of storms we've had. the only large site i've seen is Sailorman.com. Any more out there? Thanks. Jim

Hurricane Damaged Boats

I own a 2003 Catalina 350. From time to time I check out Yachtworld.com to see what folks are asking for used 350s. It was a new model in 2002, but there are a few for sale. I checked it two days ago and there were two listed at $90,000 and $95,000, respectively, which is considerably less than the other boats listed. Turns out they are both Katrina-damaged (this is specifically stated by the offeror).

If you ran specific manufacturers and lengths of boats and saw prices that were way below most of the boats listed for a year and model, you could probably figure they're damaged, especially if the listed location is in Florida or along the Gulf Coast.
