It is in very good shape, but for what it will auction for you could do cosmetic work and add extra hardware... like a furler and still have a inexpensive boat.

Bayfield 25 injured for sail

My B25 was scarred up during Katrina. All cosmetic no holes and she did not sink. She was sitting on a trailer in my yard when the 25 foot storm surge took her. She evfentually broke loose from the trailer. and sailed inland about 200 yards. I have quotes of 2 grand to repair the scratches . I would do it myself but I am trying to rebuild my house. and boating is out of the question for now. OBTW she is too small for my new family and was looking at tradeing up before the storm. I have not priced her yet .But off the top of my head about 8 grand for boat and trailer???????

resource

Look at www.goodoldboat.com under "fixer-uppers". They list a Pearson 26 I was thinking about for myself, plus many others listed.

I also have a Bayfield 25. It has been stored indoors for 4 years waiting for me to get the time to restore the teak and polish the outside. I have yet to get around to it since, I like sailing better than restoring. It is on a tandam axle trailer waiting for someone to give her some attention. I'm in Iowa, give me a call 515-250-2143.

TUNDAR4,

Another possibility for you are places that take donated boats. The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps - Great Lakes Division is one such organization. This one had four or five of them when we took a look a couple months ago, only one of which looked beyond repair. (They were using it as a floating paint platform, to paint Pride of Michigan. Sad to see a boat come to such an inglorious end .)
