Insurance

I just bought my first boat ( ADAGIO 1996 Catalina 28 mkII ) and I am shopping for insurance. Any advice on marine insurance brokers? They are pretty easy to find online, but I was wondering if there were one or two that are preferred over the rest.

Any advice/comments would be appreciated!

I found quite a difference in prices for policies, but also learned that some insure to full replacement cost, others only for the depreciated value of the boat and electronics--ie substantially less, even if the amount of the policy is higher. I learned to shop around, and read the fine print carefully.

Try Christine Hartge, with Hartge Insurance out of Annapolis, MD. She's great to work with and very responsive.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
