Question C&C 35 Mkiii?

There are a couple these boats available nearby that are somewhere close to my (ever increasing) budget figure. I may have a chance to look at them later this week.

My online research seems to indicate that these are worth considering. I'd be doing coastal cruising in the PNW. I believe these are cored hulls, but I guess I've gotten over that phobia when I was considering the Freedom 30. The 35 is at the upper end of the size range I think I'm looking for (30' to 35').

Any special concerns? I've read that the hull/deck joints are prone to leaking. Anything else to be aware of if I am able to look at one or both of these on Friday?

Thanks,

Dave

Good, solid, good looking boats for sure. Some do seem to suffer from a bit of excessive flexing at the hull deck joint (give the top of the stanchions some pull and see what gives) We passed on an older C&C 34 for that reason.

Handsome, fairly quick, good traditional layout and decent cockpits.. pretty hard to go wrong with a good one.

Re: C&C 35 Mkiii?

Hey,

I race on one of those. I think they are great boats. Like any boats from the 80's maintenance will the key. The one I race on had / has numerous leaks. The hull / deck joint dried out and leaked, that was corrected by tightening the screws / bolts. The hatches also leak (still do). The wiring isn't the best so be sure to check that. The boat I sail has a wing keel and points surprisingly well.

Good luck,
Barry

Love mine. Check the mast step and be sure the balsa deck is dry. If maintained it is a great boat! PM with questions.
