Re: Looking a Catalina 22 - Found some problems
Those guys got the keel... I'll take the other 2...
The stress fracture at the stanchion is pretty severe... I bet it's leaking below it. Not the end of the world, but I'd be looking at removal of the stanchion, overdrilling, filling with resin, and rebedding that stanchion at the very least. I'd add to that work, grinding out the crack, and fixing/repairing any glass damage, and re-gelcoating the spot... Nothing is end of the world, but it's all a bit of time. Take your time to clean between stages with acetone...
The spot on the side looks like a mis-matched gelcoat repair. Pretty easy to get "Close" to the color not the same. Probably was a gouge that was filled, as you typically grind it out, and feather it, then fill and fair. So it doesn't look structural.
Oh one last thing... the part you didn't mention, looking at the stanchion, you see the shroud behind it. Its showing a pretty significant gink in the cable. That's a no-no... at the very least I'd consider replacing that shroud too.
