Freedom 21 Covertion
I'm in the position to purchase a Freedom 21 hull in relitivly good nick (nothing a busy body with a hammer couldn't fix) but with one majour alteration. It has a traditional aluminum stayed mast. What's the forums thoughts on this?
A few of my own questions are as follows. Firstly the F21 was designed as a cat boat. Would the location of the mast so far forward effect it's sailing capability? The vessel is fit with a two foot bowsprit for the forestay which gives the headsail a little more room, but would it be enough? And with the mast so far forward, there is no way that it's base could be keelstepped, however it appears to be set up in a similar manner. What is a way to tell if it's been converted correctly, or is the rig simply the wrong type for this vessel?
I appologize for my lack of information or pictures of the F21 in question, however any input would be apreciated.
