I had one for about 5 years. I wouldn't take it offshore but it wasn't terrible as far as build quality, probably equivalent to a modern Hunter. The encapsulated keel should be inspected for water penetration and watch out for soft decks, particularly around the chainplates and lifeline stanchions. A little tender (mine was shoal draft) but sailed well with new sails. The engine compartment allowed a lot of sound out so I beefed it up. If the price and condition are good, I'd go for it.
The survey is tomorrow and I will pay particular attention to what you mentioned. No great ambitions here just looking for a solid boat to day sail in protected waters, moving up from Oday 25
