paulk the only issue i can see with the a-4 is the introduction of ethanol to gasoline. it could cause problems with the carb. as said previously they are really good motors and fairly easy to fix if there is a prob. unless it is major. the outboard idea is not to good as said because they have the same prob with eth. in fuel. also as said to much weight moved back to end of boat. if the motor is that bad as you say then the price should reflect that as allowance for repair. i would not buy a boat where the motor is on its last legs unless the price was adjusted for this. it sounds like you are bidding at an auction and that is usually as is where is.
