looking for any info about used cats in the 34''-38'', 100-125K. range. trying to find real info seems to very hard. does anyone have some real practical knowledge about sailing abilities, structural integrity, etc. have been looking at prouts, f.p. tobago, geminis. can anyone tell me through experience which boats to definately avoid, or buy. HELP!!!

I have a PDQ32, and have liked it (it is now up for sale...dirt cheap at $79k..must sell by mid Nov). It is too small to fit your 34 to 38 ft range, but you could consider a PDQ36 if you can find one at that price. It is a better boat than the geminis (which are smaller than the PDQ32 in volume, though may be a foot or two longer). Used Prouts tend to be a little more money, but very solid boats. But the older ones look old in style. The tobago is a nice production boat...not very fancy but sails ok. For your first boat I would suggest something modest that you can resell after you really discover what you want. Look at my PDQ 32 (Top Cat) listed on www.2hulls.com
