Fixed keel or centerboard? Irwin made both. Nice interior layout. The sailing characteristics are decent. Decent windward performance. They are tender, and heel quickly. They do dig in at 20 degrees or so. This is a good coastal cruiser. I prefer the fin keel to the centerboard.

DS,
I have a 1986 Irwin 35 Citation. I am very pleased with this boat and would condsider taking it anywhere along the coast or to the islands. I sail in the bay and Ocean and the boat is stable. I live aboard and have plenty of room for all that I need to have. I think the layout of the 34 is a little different from the 35 but I''m sure it will be the same fit and finish which is why I bought the boat. For the money, I don''t think you can go wrong. I have been in the Ocean with waves crashing over the bow and the boat still feels safe. Mine has the 3 GM Yanmar engine which does a good job of pushing the boat at 6 knots at about 2800 RPM.It sails well generaly at about 5-6and a half knots.
