mirage 236

Looks like I am the other Mirage 236 sailor on sailnet. Great boat. I sail the muddy Ohio in Louisville KY and beat the crap out of the Hunter sailors.
We are rebuilding the interior this winter. Last year we epoxied the bottom and painted non-skid. I should have awl-gripped the hull and repainted the entire deck, but I wanted to go sailing...

I''m another owner. Mine needs a little TLC. All new runnning rigging, lots of elbow grease, all the normal stuff. I''m interested to know what kinds of things to look for.

I didn''t think there were three other Mirage 236s out there. I have hull 68, plus an original sale flyer by the builder, Mirage Manufacturing of Gainesville, FL. The company still exists, but is strctly power. The flyer shows a transom mounted rudder, but#68 was, at one time, equipped with a spade rudder hung through the transom. It was missing when I got the boat, so I built one and hung it on the transom. Works fine. Due to leaking around the port chainplate, the bulkhead was rotted so I replaced that.

I don''t have the Mirage web address, but you can get it by doing a Yahoo search for Mirage Manufacturing

Hi. I own hull 69. Mine does have the rudder through the transom. We race it here in Grapevine, Texas. Good to find other 236 owners. Do you have any idea how many were actually made? I know the number wasn''t high...but haven''t ever found any real numbers.

Lake Murray South Carolina. Glad you're here. Does your Mirage 236 have a lift Keel or swing keel? I've also seen drawings of one with a permanent fin keel.
