Denr: I like the mid-80''s Cal. Folks in our marina have a 34 and it''s a nice looking boat. As far as the O''day, for some reason I have an aversion to them, but I can''t tell you specifically why.

As far as launch date, we might be a week or two later if we get a lot of ice in northern Lake Michigan - we''ll see how the winter goes. Sure would like to get some heavy precip in the Superior basin and get the water levels up further for next summer.

been looking at S2 9.2''s but the closest is still a 6hr drive. I found a mirage 275 for sale and does anyone have any comments on this boat? this will be my first sailboat and are looking for better quality than the hunters and caltalinas.

I would seriously look at the Tartan 34''s. A descent one will run you right at your maximum on asking price, but you should be able to get that down a little.

Excellent boats, motors are easy to access for maintenance and they sail really well.

You might also look at the C&C boats along with Islander.
