New Horizon

I am looking for information on 1962(?) New Horizon. 26ft long, centerboard keel, atomic 4.

The companionway ladder/steps are missing and I would like to find some photo''s of this boat. Thanks in advance.

New Horizon

I''d try Sparkman and Stephen''s. I believe they designed the New Horizon. The New Horizons were actually designed as MORC race boats, believe it or not. They were not all that uncommon in the early 1960''s but were eclipsed by the Tartan 27. I believe they were Built by Ray Greene who was a real pioneer in F.G. boat building. I suspect that I have literature on them but I have all of my boat literature still in storage. We finally bought a house and I will once again have access to my litrature collection. Write me in the late spring.

Regards
Jeff

New Horizon

Hi Rob,

I have a New Horizons, which I am restoring. Are you doing the same? Would love to correspond. Re. ladder. My boat was not fitted with one (hull number 100, approx 1960). Instead, there are molded in steps on the quarter berths and a step on a utility table that covers the forward end of the engine. I have examined the blueprints of the boat, which are on file at Mystic Seaport. Very early versions of the design concept show a companionway ladder; however, by the late 50''s it disappeared from the drawings. My guess is that your boat never had a companionway ladder. Having said all this, I''m planning on adding one as part of the restoration. I would be willing to send a photo of my set-up, if that would help. For a quick response, email me at work: fpetillo@picwisconsin.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
