smart sailing live-aboard for charleston
Guys I need your help with this one. I'm going to be moving to Charleston, SC in the next few months and I need a boat. I'm a young guy with no attachments and I'd like to live aboard. I'm looking for something that would large enough to be comfortable, yet small enough for me to handle by myself and be economical. I was thinking something with about 30ft on deck would be about right. She would be used primarily for coastal cruising and sailing around the harbor, but she needs to be stout enough for a yearly trip to Bermuda. My only priorities here are standing headroom for a 6 footer and that she be equipped with a tiller, a wheel does not suit my needs at all. Price range is about 20-30k.
I've been reserching this for some time now and I've developed a pretty good picture of what I'm looking for. I've looked at all the Tritons and Albergs but they're a little tight below and aren't the smart sailors I'm looking for here. I really like the Yankee 30, essentially a Tartan 30 with a narrower beam and a much lower capsize ratio. I'm more interested in the sailing abilities gained here than in the interior volume lost.
Does anyone know of any other boats that fit my needs? I know you get questions like this all of the time, but I really appreciate your help.
