Current/former Catalina 30 owners. . .

I''m moving up from a swing-keel C22, and have my sights set on a C30. I''ll be using the boat for weekending and coastal cruising from Baja to the Bay Area. I often sail short- and single-handed. I''m very much looking forward to enclosed heads and standing headroom, among other benefits of a "proper" cruising boat.

I''d be grateful, for any informed, well-balanced opinions from current/former C30 owners. Please, give me both sides: no boat is all-bad.

I have the skills and experience requiste to skipper a boat this size, so please keep your advice focused on the relative charms of the C30.

Please, no long-winded adventure stories from bygone days.
Thanks in Advance,
Jeff

Jeff,

Go to www.catalina30.com for all the info and more than you''d ever want to know about the C-30. From my own experience of sailing as crew on one several years ago, they are nice, roomy boats. Hard to beat their interior volume for that size. Thousands of them made down through the years, so they will be supported by the factory for years to come. There are the usual quality "concerns" with Catalinas, meaning they are not made to sail around the world. But if you''ve owned a C-22 you know about Catalina build quality in general terms. Certainly the C-30 is suitable for coastal cruising as you intend. Good luck!

Thanks, Mitch: this site is a treasure-trove of useful information. I especially liked the comments from a surveyor of the model in general. The perfect boat only sails the ocean of our imagination; everything else has pluses and minuses. . .

Any posts from actual owners out there would be wonderful. Anyone? Anyone? Bhueler? Anyone?
