Todd,
I would suggest taking the time to do the North Channel before you head to the Coast. You are not that far from it, and it is supposed to be some of the best cruising ground in the world, yes, right here on the Great Lakes.

If it were my choice, I would not pass up this opportunity. You can also pick up the Trent Severn out of Georgian Bay and by pass the Weland.

Just a thought, something for you to think about.

The North Channel, during the summer sounds like a pretty good way to shakedown the boat before you head out to the Atlantic.

Hey, Guys! Thanks again.

I'm not headed north too soon. I gave three weeks notice on Monday. I am getting a crown at the dentist and I didn't want any trouble taking several hours a couple times during my last couple weeks. Besides, that got me close enough that I could use April Fool's Day as my resignation date. It's a Sunday, so technically March 30 is my last day at work. April 15 is the last day in the apartment.

She is a mess below [nothing a little bleach water and windex won't cure] so I am not planning on moving aboard right away. I will probably find a room or something, but I do have family about an hour away. It depends on what work I find when I get there.

I didn't know a cape dory is a great blue water boat. What kind of keel does that have?

The Cape Dory is a full keel with attached rudder. 9000 # displacement. There have been many crossings and a couple circumnavigations.

I understand she may be just a bit more tender than a Pearson Triton [my other choice]. However, rather than an Atomic 4 gas engine, she has a Volvo Diesel.
