The Perfect Boat

New Guy on the block. (or is that dock). I am in a situation where, only daughter graduated and moving to NYC, devorsed and preparing to retire or at least cut my contract days to 3/4 to 1/2 time. Any way will have a 2.5 month vacation twice a year at the least. I work remotely in Alaska (raised in Florida) and am seriously thinking of setting up shop on or around the Sea of Cortez, maybe San Carlos. Marinas/storage is half Florida fees.

Anyway have been told the wind can be spotty and light at times, especially if I want to head North into California waters and points North. I have been struck buy the Shannon 28 a sound 9,300# but know I may just get lazy not want such a pricey sail anywhere boat. I came across a Sheoy Lee 32 Ketch 12,330# and a beamy 10' + but a lot more room. Though the oval sette looks like a parlor at a house of ill repute, the boat looks substantially bigger or at least the layout is roomier. Question does anyone have experience or knowledge of the CL 32 Ketch. Seems like she would be really slow in a light wind. Also any "issues" with that Cheoy Lee. I really would love to get hold of a Shannon 28, her simple lines, beauty, craftsmanship and her well known and proven sailing abilities, but...the "fourfootitis" is knawing at me

Thanks,
J H Willi

Both beautiful boats! I have a soft spot for Ketches, so I am drawn to the Cheoy Lee. I agree with the 'sette' remark, but have a look at this one:
