ETAP???

Anybody know anything first-hand about ETAPs? Specifically, their new 34s?

Checked out their website, and I really like the design. Before I waste time trying to find one to look at, sail, etc. do any of you have an opinion on the brand?

Also, does anybody know how much it might cost to have a boat delivered from Europe? I''ve seen 15K as a figure for shipping it, but how about sailing it over?

Etap makes a fine boat. Made in Belgium with the distinction of being "unsinkable." Double skinned hull with foam injected into the void between the two. That foam also provides good insulation. The Etap 39 was one of the Top Ten boats of 2001 in Sail Magazine. I''ve been on it at the Annapolis show, and it''s a nice boat. Very well laid out, high quality gear, and is reportedly fast.

I have a friend who bought a used Etap 30 this past year from a couple who bought a new Etap 34, which was in the Annapolis show this year. Another fine boat. And if you buy it from the US dealer (Sail la Vie or some such name) you don''t have to worry about having it shipped over.

Favorable review of the Etap 34 in the February issue of Cruising World that just came today. Page 110. (The boat tested is the one my friends purchased.)
