what is the height of the mast above the waterline, on a rerular sloop, wht is the total height from keel to top?does anyone know any good AFFORDABLE perkins wrenches in the D.C./ Baltimore area?
I'm joking of course By the way I appreciate the sketches you posted the other day illustrating the weak and strong points of mid and end sheeting booms. I have a 14' carbon fiber boom I outfitted myself(end sheeting) based on your experience I'm re thinking a couple of items such as the location of my outhaul.
She's a 1966 Columbia Sabre. She's based on the old 5.5 meter design with a cabin. The short story is that Columbia took a chance that the Olympic committee would allow glass hulls to compete with the very expensive ,wooden Norwegian hulls. They splashed a mold of one of the most famous hulls and built some some glass 5.5's. After reviewing it the O/C decided not to allow them so Columbia started their own 5.5 class with limited success. In an effort to market the hull they added a cabin, v berth, quarter berths nd some spartan creature comforts. They ony built 148. I've fully restored her and added a lot of go fast features. She's a great PHRF boat and we finished second in our fleet for the salem fleet last year.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, what happened to this guy and his 37 foot mast, blah, blah, blah? Don't you love these folks who just disappear in the middle of when we are trying to help? That is what we're trying to do, right? Of course, it would help if we knew what this guy really needed help with?
Perkins lived next door to Allen and thought he could cash in on the action.
Seriously, I googled it and it does appear to have something to do with Perkins engines, but there wasn't anything more (without joining the Perkins web site).
good question ... you might want to look at the bottom and see if the keel is still there
